The funeral service for Helen Rohrbach, 79, of Aberdeen and formerly of Roscoe, is 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Kline Street, Aberdeen. Pastor Jennifer Turick will lead the service. A private family burial will take place at a later time.
As Helen wished there will be no open casket visitation.
In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials and gifts to First State Bank of Roscoe in the name of Helen Rohrbach Memorial, 201 North Mitchell Street, Roscoe, SD 57471.
Helen was born in Payette, Idaho on August 10, 1932 to Leonard and Anita (Siegel) Murphy. As a young girl the family moved to a farm near Port Orchard, WA where she attended school through the eighth grade.
Helen moved to Roscoe in the early 1970's after living in Rapid City, SD with her mother. It was in Rapid City that she took her first waitressing job at the age of twelve. She married Alex Bichler. To this union, two children were born, Donald and Helen Marie. She later married Herbert Rohrbach on July 13, 1979. She had worked at the café in Roscoe for three decades and five different owners and at the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Aberdeen.
Helen enjoyed visiting with people and keeping up with her family's activities. She had been featured in an article in the Aberdeen American News in July of this year. The article highlighted her wonderful sense of humor and the fact that she cared so deeply for others. Even while ill these past few months she put the needs of others first and worried about how others were doing.
In her own words:
"To my family in Roscoe and Aberdeen and all whom I know and love, you have been my family.
You have always been there for me and helped us over every rough spot in the road of life.
Each one of you are so special.
We all need each other, just like a large happy family and I have the best.
So thank you all for your comfort, love and caring."
